POINTS of PRIDE
April 2016: LSHS Choirs traveled to New York City, NY. to compete in Festivals of Music where Women's Chamber Choir, Fusion, and Competition Concert Choir all won 1st place awards in their divisions. Women's Chamber Choir was also awarded the Highest overall score of all the competing ensembles receiving the "Performance of Distinction" award. LSHS Choirs were also awarded the "Esprit de Corps" award for their high level of professionalism, performance etiquette, school spirit, and overall unity as a program.
March 2016: All four choirs participated in MSVMA District 16 Choral Festival and each ensemble received a rating of "Excellent", and Women's Chamber Choir scored an "Excellent with Superior Distinction". All four ensembles qualified to participate in MSVMA State Choral Festival with their high ratings.
November 2015: Four students were selected to perform as part of the first annual Honors Vocal Day at Oakland University where they worked with Dr. Michael Mitchell and many other students from District 16 and performed a culmination concert at the end of the day. One student was awarded a half hour voice lesson with a member of the voice faculty as well!
April 2015: Fusion and Women's Chamber Choir traveled to Washington D.C. to compete against other programs internationally and Fusion took first place with an EXCELLENT rating and Women's Chamber Choir took second place with a SUPERIOR rating. The ensembles combined were awarded the "Esprit d'Corps" award for outstanding musicianship, leadership, professionalism, and support of all the other competing schools.
MSVMA District 16 Choral Festival 2015: Treble Choir received a GOOD, Concert Choir received a GOOD, Women's Chamber Choir received a Superior and Fusion received an Excellent.
2014/2015 All of the ensembles are renamed: Women's Chorale became Treble Choir, Lake Shore Singers became Concert Choir, Women's Glee became Women's Chamber Choir and Shorian Singers became Fusion
Both Shorian Singers and Women's Glee competed in Orlandofest in Orlando, Florida. Shorian Singers took Third place in their division while Women's Glee took first place in their division competing against schools from across the country.
MSVMA District 16 Choral Festival 2014 Women's Glee received a SUPERIOR rating, Shorian Singers received an EXCELLENT rating, and both Lake Shore Singers and Women's Chorale received a "GOOD" rating.
November 2013, Women's Glee participated in the MSVMA District 16 Chamber Choir Festival at Oakland University performing for other schools in our district.
For the 2012/13 school year, the Women's Glee Club, Women's Chorale and Concert Choir attended the Michigan Schools Vocal Music Association District Choral Festival and all three groups scored an overall EXCELLENT rating to qualify them to attend the MSVMA State Choral Festival. This is the first year that LSHS Choirs have participated in MSVMA.
Eight students made up of juniors and seniors selected to participate in the Annual University of Toledo High School Honors Choir Festival and performance in November 2012.
Thirty-two students from the Lake Shore High School Shorian Singers and Women's Glee Club traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete at the Festival Disney Competition at Walt Disney World in April. Festival Disney is one of the premier competitions in the country that works in partnership with the National Association for Music Education and the National Federation of State High School Associations. Over 50 choirs competed this year. Not only did both choirs perform beautifully and score with high marks; but they also had the honor to work with some of the best music educators from all over the country. The Shorian Singers performed a challenging, high energy set. They received an overall "Excellent" rating. The Women's Glee Club impressed the judges with extraordinary vocal quality and technique along with beautiful musicality. That group scored an overall "Superior" rating. This was a notable accomplishment since it is the first "Superior" rating for a LSHS Choir at Festival Disney.
The Women's Glee Club was awarded the 2011 Cruise Festival Overall Grand Champion Award.
